2005 Highlights

  • The Foundation held restricted funds for various BREC facilities and programs.  Over the last twelve months, funding was donated for specific facilities such as the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, The First Tee and the Observatory and for conservation programs.
  •  A Recreation Disaster Relief Fund was established to provide funding to help provide services to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
  • Milford (Mike) Wampold, III announced a major gift of $160,000 to Stanford Avenue Park (Baton Rouge Beach) improvement project.
  • The Foundation continued to serve as a conduit for grant requests to local and national organizations such as the Irene W. and C. B. Pennington Foundation and the United States Golf Association.
  • Assistance has been provided with proposed projects on the Federal level through meetings with the Louisiana Congressional Delegation and on the State level through the capital outlay process (which resulted in $1,400,000.00 being added to the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center project).
